Jerome van Dun

From an early age, Jerome van Dun has been intrigued by art. His stepfather Hans Grootswagers is an artist and was the first to introduce young Van Dun to art. Grootswagers showed him the possibilities of the art world and cast himself as his mentor to Van Dun.

The first time Van Dun learned about the impact that a work of art can have, he was 10 years old. He marveled at all the people crowding around the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. The young Van Dun became fascinated by how it was possible for a small painting to have such a huge impact. Several years later, when Van Dun was 16 years old, he was first captivated by a work of art. This was a sculpture by Vladimir Zbynovsky. The simplicity of the two materials the artist used struck Van Dun immensely. After this moment, he immersed himself more and more in art.
